 Happy Thursday!

Sometimes, my customers come up with the best ideas. :) When my well of ideas runs dry, they manage to dream up ideas that look much prettier than what I could've envisioned. :D Crowd-sourcing, yo!

Melanie, who is a necklace enthusiast, really liked the gorgeous magenta flower ceramic bead from this necklace. She wanted it combined with faux pearls, and after a few revisions, we incorporated the lovely Believe ring and this is the result!

Faux pearls in an almost-ombre sequence of sweet pink, dusty pink and maroon, and a ceramic bead with magenta blossoms dangling from a Believe ring.

The antique brass links and chain complement the pink/purple/red tones of this necklace.

Vintage Spring

Good evening, ladyfolk. 

I am suffering from Sunday Night Blues and also a pounding headache, so this post shall be as short as succinct as I can be (i.e. short for me, but still too cheonghei for the regular person) :p

This is a belated birthday shoutout to Ivy, who celebrated her birthday early this month. :)

Ivy is getting married soon as well, so this birthday gift was made for her with one of the most important events in her life (or more like a journey, since it is a neverending one, hehe) in mind. Love is a many splendoured thing, it is patient, it is kind... all you need is love, love is all you need (this is me quoting all the songs and bible verses that immediately come to mind). 

So this is a birthday gift to Ivy - wishing her lots of love, and joy, and adventures in this momentous year!

An asymmetrical necklace, because Ivy is a fan of the quirky and asymmetrical, with an adjustable Swarovski Heart pendant, adjusted by moving the chain up and down the Believe ring at the centre.

If Music Be The Food Of Love - Customised

I was going to wish you Happy Valentine's Day, but then am only posting this on late Sunday night, and it's technically Monday already. Oh well, I'm gonna do it anyway -- Happy Valentine's Day, my dear readers! 

Hope you had a great day in or out with your special someone, and that the love you experienced yesterday is evident in your life every day and will last on through the ages. :) How's that for a cheesy greeting, eh? Can't help it, I spent it attending someone's wedding, and what could be more romantic than weddings, right? Hehe.

In celebration of that, this post features a couple's keychain set that my friend Tien Mie customised for Joseph and Jenna, who got married end of last year.

Music is a large part of their lives, hence the matching antique brass treble clef charms, and an encouragement to the young couple to Live, Laugh and Love. Hi hello!

This shall be the shortest of all short posts as I am flying off to Japan (wheeeeeee!) tonight and time is of the essence!

Here's a pair of earrings I made for myself, with celtic knot links that I really reaaaaally love. Brings to mind an ancient, forgone time - hence the name Baroque. My friend Jah says Alhambra comes to her mind when she sees it, but Baroque sounds cooler, so Baroque it is. So much for keeping this post concise. On with the pictures!

Hogwarts Houses

Has anyone heard the recent adorable story where Tom Felton (of sneaky Slytherin Draco Malfoy fame) recently joined Pottermore? If you don't know what this is, then this post may not make much sense to you. Consider yourself warned. :p

For the uninitiated, Pottermore is an awesome Harry Potter interactive site which contains chapter-by-chapter illustrations and lovely little 'extra' stories from the Harry Potter Universe, written by Queen Rowling herself. One of the first few interactive things you do is get yourself sorted into one of the Hogwarts Houses by answering some questionnaire (a very very basic and probably not scientifically-sound (but who cares) personality test). Tom Felton got sorted into Gryffindor, which is all kinds of hilarious, given that his character loathes Gryffindor with the fire of a thousand suns.

So anyway, I have of course been a member of this site since it first came out, and was quite predictably sorted into Ravenclaw. Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure, yo! Also, I am a total geek. Like that wasn't obvious from the constant geeky tangents that I go off on. :D

 An antique brass bookmark with a cobalt blue (Ravenclaw colours yo!) Czech Preciosa bead and the cutest little witch on a broomstick. Reminds me of Hermione, except that she doesn't like flying. I fell in love with this charm at first sight, and of course had to buy it.

For The Little One

This day, Saturday 20 December, is the day my little brother officially graduates with Honours and is released into the scary postgraduate world. I am currently away and have most likely just spent my Saturday morning being bored to tears by the graduation ceremony in some majestic-looking hall somewhere in Melbourne. With my luck, it will be 38 degrees like it was during his graduation last year. Oh the sweltering heat and the gaping hole in the ozone layer above Australia! *pengsan*

Anyway, since it is the little one's graduation date and all, this post is dedicated to him. (Also, he's at least a head taller than everyone else in my family, so he's not little at all. But once a little bro, always a little bro - I'm sure some of you can relate.)

My brother is as big of a Harry Potter fan as I am, so this is a plain and simple Deathly Hallows keychain to accompany him through his many more years away from home.

Unfortunately, this ain't available because I don't actually have any antique brass keychains available (I recycled this one from an existing trinket I had lying around). But if you're a fan of all things Harry Potter, never fear! Check out more stuff here!

Vintage Rose

One day to my holiday!

Strawberry Latte

Hope everyone has had a nice and restful Sunday. :)

Today's post showcases the companion piece to the Suede Braids bracelet that I made for mummy. While mummy's is composed of sombre dark gray and dark purple suede with a dash of bright carolina blue, with silver findings, this one is in sweet and warm colours, with antique brass findings. 

I hereby dub it Strawberry Latte, for reasons which are obvious and shall be elaborated on in glorious long-winded detail.

 Braided suede in shades of sugary pink, beige and brown, resembling that of a strawberry-flavoured latte (Oh Starbucks, can you work on this drink please? Especially to make up for the fact that you are no longer serving my precious Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino). I am quite in love with this combination of colours, especially when paired with antique brass findings.

 At the end of the braided bracelet is an adorable little wing charm. It's one of the things I just had to buy when I started buying antique brass charms.

Lovebirds | Bold & Brassy Collection: Part 5

Hola amigos!

I am back from Penang-land after some pretty darn yummy feasting. Salted egg deep fried lotus root... how I love thee, let me count the ways. ♥__♥ Today I am tired (from all the sleeping that I did in the car, haha), so I shall keep this post short.

Today's post is the last in the Bold & Brassy collection, though it's not the last of the antique brass creations that you've seen from me. Here's Lovebirds, a choker-style necklace that is both dainty and simple, and rather adorable (at least I think so lah).

 A simple antique-brass necklace featuring two little lovebirds sitting on a tree branch. Here, I have oh-so-artfully arranged the necklace to look like the little birds are perching on a swing. Aren't they adorable?

Fun fact 3: How cool is it that I've seen something super similar to this necklace on the neck of Caroline Forbes in one of the episodes?! Mockingjay | Bold & Brassy Collection: Part 3

Fellow citizens of PANEM...

Wrong post-apocalyptic country.

Also, pre-apocalypse, though let's face it - it's only a matter of time before the world implodes on all of us and we'll all have to battle it out Hunger Games-style. 

Wheeeee I am très excited about this post because it is an homage to one of my favourite book series, possibly second only to the awesomeness of Harry Potter. With the release of Mockingjay Part 1 just around the corner (next week, I can't hardly wait!!!), it is a timely time to be posting part 3 of the Bold & Brassy collection!

I've made some trinkets inspired by the Hunger Games series before, but this is the first time I have a charm that looks like it has come straight out of the movie series itself - the famous Mockingjay pin that Katniss wore in defiance of the Capitol, which later became one of the leading symbols of the resistance. Second in the Bold & Brassy collection is a pair of earrings!

I've always loved using various bird-related beads and charms in my creations, which you can see some of here, here and here! :) So when I expanded my collection of beads and charms and pretty things (heehee) to include antique brass items, I of course had to buy at least one bird-related charm!

Deathly Hallows | Bold & Brassy Collection: Part 1

Sunday's almost over, but there is still time for some relaxation yet!

For me, it comes in the form of some wordy rambling on this blog, for this is a topic I am extremely excited about! Those who recognise the title of this post would be therefore familiar with all things Harry Potter, for the Deathly Hallows formed the very basis of the last book in the series.

For the uninitiated, the Deathly Hallows are 3 legendary and extremely powerful objects said to be first owned by the Peverell brothers - The Elder Wand, The Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak. For decades and decades, wizards in search of power and invincibility have searched for these 3 hallowed items, and identified themselves by a symbol representing the 3.

Such is the popularity of Harry Potter in pop culture that mainstream markets have began to sell a charm that represents the Deathly Hallows too! It is almost an exact replica of the one that Xenophilius Lovegood himself wears in the movie - so HOW could I resist buying this charm - resistance was completely futile! So yes, my friends, the very reason I am even starting a brass collection is because I just had to buy this Deathly Hallows charm. :D
