Ombré

Ombré has been all the rage lately in fashion. I've definitely coveted those gorgeous ombré hairstyles we see so much everywhere, and clothing with colour gradients are just so very pretty. Since the hairstyles are super expensive to get and maintain, I've gone for the next best thing - making "ombré" earrings!

Gotta love them colour gradients.
I think the soft sheen of the faux pearls and the combination of the gradient of colours are very pretty indeed, making them my favourite of this collection.

Black & Gold | La Perla Collection: Part 4

Short post because Saturdays are meant to be enjoyed outdoors!

Though I am loving the pitter-patter of fresh rain outside. :)

So you may have noticed that the La Perla collection contains faux pearls in the more unconventional colour combinations -- midnight blue and burgundy, rosaline with baby blue, shiny rainbow shades. This bracelet aims for style and class - shades of Black & Gold. Gaya. Mutu. Keunggulan. :p

 Soft gold faux pearls interspersed with black faux pearls with gold swirls on them, with a round double twisted ring at the centre.

 Encased within the round double twisted ring is a smaller black pearl, this one with gold and silver swirls.

Freedom | La Perla Collection: Part 3

Hello all!

Short post 'cause I'm feeling under the weather and I'm exhausted from work.

We've reached the mid-point of the La Perla collection! Today's post will feature a bracelet made of shiny faux pearls in all colours of the rainbow, which will hopefully lift your mood and brighten up a dreary day.

 A wish for freedom - a swallow flying towards a rainbow strewn sky.

 The swallow remains one of my favourite links to date, and I feel that it is particularly apt for this piece. :)

Footprints | La Perla Collection: Part 2

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

This poem was one that touched me a lot when I first came to know God. Hope it has touched you too. :)

Part 2 of the La Perla Collection features a footprint charm that has never featured in any Dainty Little Trinket to this date. :) I've been wanting to make something with this charm for sometime now. With no further ado - here it is:

 Alternating rosaline and pale blue pearls, a celtic knot link to represent the bonds of family and friends, a footprint charm, and two words of encouragement - hope. courage.

 The rosaline and pale blue pearls are also typically colours used to represent new born baby girls and baby boys, with the little footprint charms looking like little baby toes. This would make quite a suitable gift for new mothers - to give hope, to give courage.

Midsummer Night's Dream | La Perla Collection: Part 1

"Are you sure

That we are awake? It seems to me

That yet we sleep, we dream."

Part 1 of the La Perla Collection features a bracelet that attempts to recreate the fantasy and the ethereal aspect one of Shakespeare's classics. Imagine a dream in the middle of a warm summer night -

 Midnight blue pearls to represent a midsummer night, burgundy pearls to represent one's dream-like, surreal state of mind, accompanied by moon and star charms.

 Two of the midnight blue pearls at the midway point of each side are slightly larger - reflecting the different sizes of constellations in the night sky. I wouldn't have thought that this colour combination would work until I combined them - I like the rich and ethereal quality that the colours evoke.

La Perla - Collection Masterpost

Ladies and gentlefriends,

it has been a while since the last collection - one month and three days to be exact - and so it is time to begin another. :)

Now, for the uninitiated, La Perla is predominantly known as a lingerie brand. I first heard of it from the mouth of Paula Abdul, on American Idol. Obviously I can't remember the context in which she was talking about lingerie on a reality tv show about singing (say what?!), but the words "La Perla" have stuck with me ever since.

This is obviously not a collection on lingerie, so I thought I'd explain that La Perla is spanish for Pearl. And this collection is a collection for all things pearly! Over the next week or so, get ready to see some accessory designs incorporating a variety of pretty, shiny faux pearls. 

So pretty right, this picture?
