Flowers in the Rain

Lo and behold, it's the end of April!

Raise your hand if you're excited about the beautifully long weekend we have ahead of us... ah, how I love public holidays. :)

Today's post features a bracelet that I made for my mummy. The name comes from the stone beads that are featured in this bracelet (also previously featured here). As they're known as Rain Flower Stones (雨花石), I thought it'd be fitting.
An oriental-inspired bracelet featuring a chinese knot link, pink-green-translucent rain flower stones, white opal and rose opal chinese crystal doughnuts.

Item Code & Name: 389 Flowers in the Rain
Price: RM18.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: White Opal / Rose Opal Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Rain Flower Stones, Chinese Knot Link
Measurements: Approximately 17.5cm (including clasp)

Good night, go forth, and enjoy your mini-holiday, dear readers! :)

Frosted Hearts - Customised

Relatively short post coz it's late! :D

My friend Ai Li is no stranger to this blog, and now makes a reappearance in the pair of earrings that she recently customised. She really liked the pretty crystal doughnuts that I recently featured in this pair of earrings, you see, and wanted me to customise something with them.

Here's Frosted Hearts -

Chinese crystal doughnuts of the opal/frosted variety - soft and sweet shades of white opal, rose opal and lavender opal, with celtic heart beads. The white opal crystals are almost invisible in the picture above (largely due to my lack of photoshop skillz), so the picture below is against a silver background for clearer viewing.

Item Code & Name: 388 Frosted Hearts
Price: RM8.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: White Opal / Rose Opal / Lavender Opal Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Celtic Heart Beads

So if you're looking for a demure and sweet pair of earrings, look no further!

Porcelain - Customised

Helloooo!

I'm going off on a mini-vacation from tomorrow till Sunday, so gotta rush! This will be a short post. :)

When Jaycee customised the mushroom and macaron handbag charms, she also wanted to put her own spin to this Porcelain bracelet. Here's the customised version:
Off-white clay beads handpainted with swirls and zigzag patterns, in porcelain blue and jet black ink, and a reminder to be courageous and have hope.
Gotta love the painstakingly hand-painted swirls and zigzag patterns in these Lun Bawang beads.

Item Code & Name: 378 Porcelain (Customised)
Price: RM30.00
Status: [Sold], Not Available
Materials: Blue Swirl, Black Swirl and Blue Zigzag Lun Bawang Beads, Clear Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Courage Bead, Heart Bead, Toggle Clasp
Measurements: Approximately 16.5cm (including clasp)

I've run out of the Black Swirl beads, but if you wish for a remake without those beads, we can work something out.

I'm travelling, so responses may not be as frequent, yeah? :)
That's all for now, be back early next week!

Cupid Strikes

Hello!

Sorry I've been missing in action. I wanted to post yesterday, but was so tired I fell asleep at 9pm. (If that's not a sign of ageing, I don't know what is!). It's been a busy, tiring couple of workdays, so yay TGIF!

Before I go off and enjoy the start of my weekend, here's a pretty necklace customised by Melanie. She liked the circle links and arrow links from the Noir bracelet, and after a few revisions to it, we arrived at this design in sweet rosaline and lilac tones.
A slightly asymmetrical necklace with rosaline faux pearls and chinese crystal doughnuts accompanying circle and arrow links on each side, with a lilac rose cabochon pendant and twin dangling chains.

Named Cupid Strikes for the little arrow heart links and circle links (almost like Cupid's target). This is possibly one of Dainty Little Trinkets' sweetest creations. :)

Item Code & Name: 374 Cupid Strikes
Price: RM25.00
Status: [Sold], Not Available (unless you don't mind substituting the lilac rose cabochon with a different colour)
Materials: Rosaline Faux Pearls, Rosaline Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Circle Links, Arrow Heart Links, A Lilac Rose Cabochon on a Flower Filigree
Measurements: Approximately 44.5cm (including clasp), extender = 4cm

If you'd like to customise something, all you have to do is email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com to discuss ideas!

Watercolour

Every now and then you experience lapses in creativity and cannot think of nice names to name your creations.

This is one of those times!

I recently acquired these pretty, translucent watercolour faux pearls and decided to make myself a pair of earrings with it. I wanted something simple and dainty, as is my usual modus operandi. :)

Here, oh-so-creatively named Watercolour, is my new favourite pair of earrings:

Celtic Square Beads matched with the white faux pearls that have pretty splashes of pastel paint, which gives them a watercolour effect.
Item Code & Name: 364 Watercolour
Price: RM6.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Pastel Watercolour Faux Pearls, Celtic Square Beads

That's all for now :) If you like the look of these pretty pearls, you can always customise something to your fancy!

Hello dear readers!

This shall be a short post because I am in the midst of planning for my trip to Japan (one month to go!) and it is quite late already and tomorrow is the start of a loooooong work week. /whine

Anyway, this is the part where I start featuring all the Christmas gifts that I gave to my friends during Christmas!

First is something I made for Wei Lyn, which is probably my favourite Christmas gift that I've given, largely because I adore the magenta-flower ceramic beads that this pair of earrings feature:

Spotlight - Christmas

I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes
Christmas is all around me and so the feeling grows
It's written in the wind, it's everywhere I go
So if you really love Christmas c'mon and let it snow

Does anyone else love this hilariously Christmassy song from Love Actually? Also, Love Actually - one of the classics for Christmas, and one of the romantic comedy classics of our generation. :)

Soooo I'm still on holiday, but since Christmas is just around the corner, this is a spotlight post that casts some bright wintry light on some of the Christmassy creations from Dainty Little Trinkets!

(The names of each trinket link to the original posts!)
 Winter Wonderland (RM23)
 Poinsettia (RM18)
 Anna (RM18)
 Morning Star (RM12)

That's all for now - I'll be back from holiday soon with some new trinkets to feature!

I'll leave you with the Love Actually scene where Christmas is All Around is being recorded (excuse the swearing, hehe). :)

Spotlight - Asymmetry

- zis is a scheduled post as yours truly is still on holiday -

Now you must be wondering - why the blazes is there a picture of some lady with a cool hairstyle on a site that is supposed to be about handmade trinkets? To be fair, if you are the sort to pay attention to titles, you would've rightly deduced that this post is about asymmetry and the reason why that picture is here is because of her gorgeously stylish asymmetrical hairstyle.

I am in general a fan of logic and order and symmetry, though the occasional asymmetry does spice things up a little. So here is my little ode to asymmetry, as you can see in the pictures below.

Daenerys & Drogo (RM8) - but currently on sale!

 Cyan Blooms (RM9)

Nebula (RM34)

So if you like asymmetrical things, check out the asymmetrical tag for more goodies!

(replies may be slow as I am in the land down under)

 G'night!

Spotlight - Colourful Clay

You know the drill -
I am still on vacation and this is a scheduled post!

Today's spotlight post will feature all things made from polymer clay!
First, have a pretty colourful picture:

Isn't it amazing, the kinds of things humans can craft from clay? There is truly no limit to creativity (well, there's a limit to mine, but not some other creative souls). Aside from colourful clay jars and all sorts of beautiful decorative items, polymer clay has been used by all sorts of arty farty people to create gorgeous little charms and beads.

Over the course of this year, I've purchased quite a lot of beautiful clay charms and beads, so here are some accessories featuring them (click on the names to go to the original posts for more pictures)!
 I Believe (RM22)
 Porcelain (RM20)
 Lil' Shroom (RM12)

How adorable are those mushrooms above, yeah?

So go forth and browse and email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com to purchase stuff!

I'm still on vacation, so email responses may take a few days, so please bear with me yeah.

Jonquil - Customised

Thursday!

Just a day till the weekend - hang in there! I don't know about you, but there was a torrential downpour this evening, leading to a traffic jam of epic proportions. That said, I am thankful to be home and under a roof, listening to the gentle pitter-patter of the light drizzle outside.

The title of this post - Jonquil - is a word that I have only just recently learned. Oddly enough, I learned it while on one of my first few bead-shopping binges! Swarovski crystals have a variety of gorgeous colours, some of them very whimsically named (which I can super-identify with, haha). One such hue was Jonquil, and it was a beautiful yellow colour. I have since found out that it is also the name of the small fragrant yellow flower we know more commonly as daffodils! That's some horticultural knowledge for you. (My blog is totally educational, haha!)

Here's the last necklace that I customised for Felicia, named Jonquil for the lone yellow flower appearing in a sea of white:

A yellow dahlia (let's pretend it's a daffodil) on an intricate round filigree, followed by different white beads linked to each other - a round shell bead, ivory faux pearls, a white faux pearl with gold swirls, a white opal chinese crystal doughnut, and a square filigree.
I love the random appearance of the filigrees in this necklace. They're really quite intricate and beautiful.

Item Code & Name: 306 Jonquil
Price: RM30.00
Status: [Sold], Available for Remakes
Materials: Yellow Dahlia Cabochon on a Round Filigree, Square Filigree, Ivory Faux Pearls, Round Shell Bead, White Faux Pearl with Gold Swirls, White Opal Chinese Crystal Doughnut
Measurements: Approximately 72cm (including clasp)

Alrighty!

Other yellow items can be found here!

If you like the series of necklaces that I've customised for Felicia, do check out other customised items (here!) or email me to customise something for yourself!

Tranquil Isles - Customised

Hi folks!

Today's post is the continuation of a series of necklaces that have been customised for Felicia, who likes all things asymmetrical and random. :) Today's necklace is quite unique, comprising different beads, crystals, flowers, and filigrees. The colour scheme for this necklace is blue, mint, and white, with inspiration coming from the Peaceful Waters bracelet from the Jars of Clay collection. Since this necklace was inspired by that bracelet, I have expanded on its name and named this creation Tranquil Isles.

Representing tranquility - silver filigrees, mint and off-white flower cabochons, a white shell teardrop bead, frosted blue and air blue opal chinese crystal doughnuts, shiny white faux pearls, an aquamarine glass bead, and a single aquamarine zigzag-patterned Lun Bawang.
A closeup of the eclectic mix of beads and links that comprise this opera-length necklace. There's something soothing about this colour scheme.

Item Code & Name: 305 Tranquil Isles
Price: RM38.00
Status: [Sold], Not Available
Materials: Aquamarine Zigzag Lun Bawang Bead, Air Blue Opal & Frosted Blue Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Aquamarine Glass Bead, Shiny White Faux Pearls, White Shell Teardrop Bead, Silver Filigrees, Off-White and Mint Dahlia Cabochons
Measurements: Approximately 72cm (including clasp)

I've run out of the off-white dahlias, so if you'd like a remake without the off-white dahlia, this is possible. :)

Hope you're having a tranquil evening / day / week, whenever it is that you're reading this.

I'll leave you with a song that to me epitomises tranquility - May It Be, from Enya
(with beautiful snapshots from the epic Lord of The Rings trilogy)

Nebula - Customised

Continuing in a series of posts for the necklaces that I've customised for Felicia, this one is my favourite of the lot.

Now, those who know me (or those who've read my ramblings enough to know an approximation of me) will know that I have rather simple, uniform taste. The trinkets I design are rarely out of the box - the designs are tried and true, usually symmetrical, and even if asymmetrical, usually only to a certain degree. So when a customer comes along and challenges that need for order, it is both an exciting and nerve-wracking experience. Such was my experience with Felicia, who throughout the course of customisation had to gently ask me to "be random". Hahaha!

I can certainly be random with my ramblings... not so much with my accessories! So this has been a good challenge out of my comfort zone. :)

Here is Nebula, named for the interstellar inspiration for this necklace, with the random beads and links reminding me of a galaxy of weird and wonderful constellations. What am I talking bout? I'll let the pictures do the talking!

The double-chain returns, with random links and beads of white, black and silver connected to each other like different planets and constellations in a vast galaxy.
Pictured here are some of the beads and links - a diagonal celtic square bead, white and black pearls with gold swirls connected to a square filigree, a jet black helix crystal, a white-striped round acrylic bead, and a diamond link.

Item Code & Name: 304 Nebula (Customised)
Price: RM34.00
Status: [Sold], Available for Remakes
Materials: White Shell Beads, White and Black Faux Pearls with Gold Swirls, White-Striped Round Acrylic Bead, Jet Black Helix Crystal, Square Filigree Link, Celtic Heart Bead, Chinese Knot Link, Diamond Link
Measurements: Inner Chain = Approximately 63.5cm (including clasp), Outer Chain = Approximately 72cm (including clasp)

Hope you like the randomness of this creation!
If you like double-chained trinkets, check out more here
If you like asymmetrical, random stuff, check out more here
If you like this and would like to order a remake, email me at
daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com

BTW, can't wait for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar movie. Also, this serves as a shoutout to Karen Gillan's chilling portrayal of Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Good night, and have a great week ahead, everyone.
