Bermuda Triangle

The Bermuda Triangle is shrouded in myth and mystery.

Today's featured pair of earrings aims to exude that mystery... and also were very simply named after the supposedly mysterious geographical location because they are triangular in shape.

I know, I know, I'm running out of creative, whimsical names for my creations. :p

Dangling earrings made of silver-plated chain, with little star beads sandwiched between frosty blue round-faceted chinese crystals.
Item Code & Name: 271 Bermuda Triangle
Price: RM8.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Frosty Blue Round Faceted Chinese Crystals, Star Beads

Also available in other colours, if you don't fancy frosty blue.

The Butterfly Effect

Ah, the holidays are over.

Too short, these holidays are. Always too short. For those who are still on holiday, enjoy it till the last moment! For those who are back at work / school / reality - hope it'll be a smooth-sailing week for you. :)

Today's post is about butterflies!
I have this butterfly charm that I like a lot, which has featured quite a bit on Dainty Little Trinkets. So far, we've featured butterflies in your hair, butterflies on your wrist, butterflies dangling from your ears and butterflies dangling from your handphones. Now it's time for butterflies to adorn your neck - in the form of The Butterfly Effect. (Yes, I know the name is uber geeky. How could I pass up on the chance to use it?!)
A simple necklace with a butterfly link, and two burgundy crystal teardrops dangling from the butterfly. I spent some time arranging this necklace in a way that was stylish and aesthetically pleasing. :p

This necklace matches the Spring Waltz earrings, so if you'd like a matching set, click here to see some pics!

Item Code & Name: 270 The Butterfly Effect
Price: RM15.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Burgundy Chinese Crystal Teardrops, Butterfly Link
Measurements: Approximately 41.5cm (including clasp), Extender = 3.5cm

If you'd like to add some butterflies to your collection, do email me @

That's all for now.
Au revoir!

Sunday Stylefile #4

Hello again everyone!
Hope the long weekend has been treating you well.

Selamat Hari Raya to all who celebrate! May this be a wonderful time of rest, reflection and reunion with your friends and family (and of course lots of feasting. Yum). :D

This post was supposed to go up on Sunday, but I fell asleep before I could post it. So let's pretend it's still Sunday k?

So far, the monthly Sunday Stylefile segment of this blog has featured accessories matching clothing in the colours of blue, pink and green. It's time for some rich colours, specifically a colour that goes by the name of red / scarlet / crimson / wine.

This Sunday's Stylefile features the Autumn in My Heart bracelet with its brilliant colours representing fall - coral red, soft gold, honey topaz, accompanied by beads with engravings of a tree branch, a little bird and a tree charm.
I've chosen 3 stunning red dresses to match the bracelet with. Dresses that I am very tempted to buy for myself:

On ze left, dress to impress with this gorgeous flower-patterned Quarter Sleeve Lacey Dress from Mimosa Closet.
In ze middle, look professional and stylish in the wine-coloured Band Waist Panel Hem Executive Dress from Dressabelle.
On ze right, rock the geeky sailor college girl look with this Red & White Striped Dress from Hutz Fashion.

*Disclaimer* I own not the images above, they are from the sites that I have credited.
Click on the links to go buy them pretty dresses. :)

As with all previous Sunday Stylefile posts - remember that the Autumn in My Heart bracelet (originally RM18) will be 10% off from now till the next Sunday Stylefile post in August - that's RM16.20 (let's round that off to RM16)! :) Check out more pictures of the bracelet here.

If you'd like to order any accessories, I'm just an email away!

Patronus

Expecto Patronum!

Silver light bursts forth
forming a corporeal manifestation of your most joyful, most positive, most indestructible memories
protection against the creeping lack of hope, incapacitating fear - that which seeks to destroy your soul and take away all joy.

If the above sounds like gibberish to you, this post will likely not make sense. For it is time, my friends, to indulge in a little love for all things Harry Potter again! Ah, Harry Potter. I suspect I shall love this fictional universe till I am old and grey.

If you've been visiting this blog for a while, you would've seen some of my previous Harry Potter creations. Today, I bring you a Patronus necklace. The patronus charm, for the uninitiated, is a charm that wizards and witches cast as protection from Dementors - these creeptastic, soul-sucking creatures that feed on human emotions, make you relive all your worst memories, leaving you a shell of your former self. They are positvely (ha!) one of the worst and scariest "beings" in the HP universe. In fact, JK Rowling herself has said that she wrote about Dementors when she was clinically depressed - so dementors are often seen as a physical manifestation of depression - a metaphor for all the helplessness and lack of joy, and inability to hope. Wow, huh?

Conversely, each person's Patronus is a physical manifestation of joy, the fiercest, most hopeful memories that you have. I've loved reading about this charm ever since I read Prisoner of Azkaban - silvery light manifesting in some form that is important to you - Harry's being a stag - the animagus form of his father.

I have blathered on long enough. Picture time!
A simple silver necklace with tiny silver crystals and pearls, a Joy charm, and Harry's patronus - the silvery stag that protected him against the soul-crushing fear and hopelessness that the dementors brought. I like to think of this necklace as protection for the wearer - hold on to your happy memories, think of the joy, and hope that those you love and you yourself can get through the worst of times.

A close up look of the necklace - as you can see, the toggle clasp is placed in front, right at the end of the chain. I was experimenting with different placements, and quite like the placement of this clasp. :) (check out the Mystique necklace here, here and here for other unique placements)

(Newflash: yours truly now has short hair. :p )

Item Code & Name: 269 Patronus
Price: RM18.00
Status: Available
Materials: Silver-Clear Chinese Crystal Teardrop, Silver Faux Pearl, Clear Round-Faceted Chinese Crystal, Joy Charm, Stag Charm
Measurements: Approximately 44cm (including clasp)

If you like the Patronus necklace but would prefer another "patronus" (like a wolf or a dog - ahhh Remus and Sirius!), just email me and we'll see whether I have the charms to customise it for you!

Meanwhile, do check out the Harry Potter label for other tributes to that magical universe.

In other news, I will be in Harry Potter World in Osaka at the end of January 2015! Can't hardly wait! :D

Happy long weekend my friends!

Flower Power

Flower Power
 - a slogan in the 60s / 70s era of hippies, to symbolise passive resistance and non-violence in opposition to war. Many people in this movement dressed in colourful, psychedelic clothing, and wore flowers in their hair.

I reckon I could've been a hippie rocking the "flower power" look if I lived during that era. :p Violence is never the answer, yo.

Anyway, inspiration for the name of this pair of earrings came due to the abundance of flowers in this pair of earrings, which I randomly decided to make for myself:

Dainty little flower links that resemble stained glass paintings, with smoked topaz crystal doughnuts connected to gorgeously intricate flower filigrees.
I like the smoked topaz crystal doughnuts quite a bit! Such a unique colour.

Item Code & Name: 268 Flower Power
Price: RM8.00
Status: [Sold 2], Available for remakes
Materials: Smoked Topaz Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Flower Links, Flower Filigrees

Flowers, flowers everywhere!
If you like flowers, check out the "flowers" label for accessories featuring flower beads, flower charms, flower cabochons, clay flowers, FLOWERS!

G'night.

Winter in Paris - Customised

Short post coz it's late and I'm sleepy!

Remember the Disney Princesses collection?
One of my favourite pieces is one dedicated to one of the most recently "crowned" princesses - the quirky and lovable Anna. :) Seeing as to how most adults probably don't want to be going around with a bracelet with the word "princess" on it, my friend Lin asked me to make a few little changes and voila - the bracelet has been given a makeover - Winter in Paris, as named by Lin herself. :D
A burgundy and purple affair with snowflakes and the iconic Eiffel tower.
Shout out to my favourite link - the round double twisted ring with an embossed Czech preciosa crystal within.

Item Code & Name: 267 Winter in Paris (Customised)
Price: RM20.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Burgundy and Clear Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Embossed Purple and Glittering Purple Czech "Preciosa" Fire-Polished Glass Beads, Round Double-Twisted Ring, Diamond Link, Snowflake Link, Snowflake Charm, Eiffel Tower Charm, Heart Toggle Clasp

If you like the Eiffel tower and all things French, check out some of my previous creations:

Jars of Clay - Conclusion

And we've reached the end of yet another collection. :)

Here's a pic to commemorate all of the creations under this collection.

Look at the contrast between the classy, tribal look of the Lun Bawang beads, compared to the cutesy polymer clay creations! :)

If you're interested in any of the pieces, just click on the Jars of Clay label to see all of them at once!

Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead.

Raya soon, holidays soon! :D

Lil Shroom | Jars of Clay Collection: Part 7

Hello everyone.

First things first -- my deepest condolences to the families of those on the MH17 flight. My heart goes out to the Malaysian Airlines employees too - two flights in such a short span of time. I can't imagine how the families and friends must be feeling. Wherever you are, say a little prayer for them, yeah?

Today marks the last part of the Jars of Clay collection!

It's something quite simple, and to me, very cute. :3 Here's a handbag charm with a charm that may look pretty familiar -
Yup, you guessed it - this cute lil' shroom resembles the mushroom that we all know and love so well from Super Mario. Ah, I feel nostalgic just looking at it.
A clover link and flower link with a shiny red pearl in between, leading to the adorable mushroom charm.
Also available in made-to-order purple and pink options, below!

Item Code & Name: 266 Lil' Shroom
Price: RM12.00
Status:
1. Lil' Red Shroom - Not Available
2. Lil' Purple Shroom - Not Available
3. Lil' Pink Shroom - Made to Order
Materials: Shiny Red Faux Pearl, Clover Link, Flower Link, Mushroom Charm

The purple/pink shrooms will of course be accompanied by purple/pink pearls, not the red one. Unless you like it that way. :)

So to those who fancy a blast from the past, here's your chance to purchase something Mario related. :)

Just email me at

Also, do check out the clearance sale section!

Lastly, let's all be thankful for all that we've been blessed with. Love and appreciate the people around you, as life is as temporal as it is precious, and who knows what tomorrow may bring?

Have a happy blessed weekend, my friends.

Le Petit Macaron | Jars of Clay Collection: Part 6

Bonsoir!

This evening, Part 6 of the Jars of Clay collection takes on a little bit of Parisian flair. After some tribal beads and some good ol' milk and cookies, it's time for something a little cultured, something French!

One thing that's become very famous and synonymous to all things French is macarons - those delicious, dainty little delicacies that delight both the eyes and the tastebuds. Needless to say, the foodie in me loves macarons! And who's to say that you can't combine food with art, yeah? Here's a necklace for all you macaron lovers out there -
A sweet pink macaron with vanilla cream filling, connected by a ribbon link to the necklace's chain. It's not very clear here, but sandwiched between the pink macaron is a swirl of white "filling", giving the macaron a realistic appearance. :)

For the macaron aficionado - if you love it, eat it and wear it! This necklace is available in 4 colours, as seen below:
[L-R] Soft Pink, Hot Pink, Sweet Lilac, Sky Blue
(Or if you like to get imaginative with macaron flavours - strawberry, raspberry, grape and blueberry. Haha)

Item Code & Name: 265 Le Petit Macaron
Price: RM18.00
Status:
1. Soft Pink Macaron - Available
2. Hot Pink Macaron - Made to Order
3. Sweet Lilac Macaron - Made to Order
4. Sky Blue Macaron - Made to Order
Materials: Macaron Charm, Ribbon Link, Rosaline Faux Pearl
Measurements: Approximately 43cm (including clasp) + 3.5cm extender chain

I am craving some macarons right now!
Hands up if you are too!

Milk & Cookies | Jars of Clay Collection: Part 5

Who stole the cookie in the cookie jar?

Me, always, me. :) Ah, cookies. I love cookies, especially Oreos. And like the infamous duos that come before them - burger and fries, eggs and bacon, tea and scones, coffee and biscotti - cookies always go with milk.

Part 5 of the Jars of Clay collection marks a new phase for this collection. Instead of the classy Lun Bawang beads that have featured in the past 4 items, the next 3 trinkets will showcase handmade polymer clay creations - cutesy, fun, in cheery bright colours or sweet pastel shades. First, we have a pair of earrings dubbed Milk & Cookies, for reasons that are apparent below:

White shell beads that resemble the pearly, creamy texture of milk, with adorable brown cookie charms - good enough to eat!

The cookie charms are very intricately made - observe the little "imperfections" on the texture of the cookie, resembling the baked texture of the real life cookie! Yum.

Item Code & Name: 264 Milk & Cookies
Price: RM12.00
Status: Available
Materials: Shell Beads, Brown Cookie Charms

Hungry? I know I am!
If you'd like to purchase a pair of these cute little things, email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com

Also check out the clearance sale, yo!

Lunchtime - toodles!

Purple Storm | Jars of Clay Collection: Part 4

Testing out this phone blogging thing. It is indeed much harder than blogging from a computer. Formatting is tough, so I'll switch to the computer later and add some photos!

Not that that was information that was relevant to any of you. :p

Next week you'll see a bunch of accessories that are vastly different from these classy and elegant ones. :D I'm excited for those too! But for now - after the calm, Peaceful Waters before the storm - here is a Purple Storm

Accompanying the purple-swirl Lun Bawang bead are tiny metallic silver chinese crystal doughnuts.

Peaceful Waters | Jars of Clay Collection: Part 3

Periwinkle | Jars of Clay Collection: Part 2

Periwinkle:
A colour in the blue / purple family;
A common plant characterisied by dainty periwinkle-blue flowers;
A small sea snail often found on rocky shores, little tide pools and muddy habitats.

It's funny that a cute and humorous word like "periwinkle" has so many meanings. And now, I shall again take the English language into my own hands and name one of my creations accordingly! :)

Part 2 of the Jars of Clay collection focuses on the only pair of earrings in this collection. Alas, poor judgment resulted in me only buying 2 of this particular Lun Bawang bead, so it is the one and only pair in the world and cannot be remade once sold. So if you like it, grab it before it's gone!
Off-white Lun Bawang beads with periwinkle blue swirls, ending with violet round-faceted chinese crystals that appear blue in certain light, and purple in others.
Item Code & Name: 261 Periwinkle
Price: RM9.00
Status: Available (one pair only - not available for remakes once it is sold!)
Materials: Periwinkle Blue Swirl Lun Bawang Beads, Violet Round-Faceted Chinese Crystals

(ok time for football talk!)
Poor, poor Brazil. It was painful to watch them suffer such crushing defeat at the hands (or feet) of the competent and skilled German team. I'm not even an avid Brazil supporter and I was cringing for them. The Netherlands and Argentina match was sooooo long. Not particularly exciting, though the penalties definitely were. It's always sad to lose out on penalties, so I feel sorry for the Dutch - the best team to have never won the World Cup. Yikes. Looking forward to the Germany - Argentina final. I'm sure it'll be an entertaining one!

Also, I will never understand what possesses someone to want to be a goalkeeper. It is so stressful to have to guard the goalpost, and if you can't catch any penalty kicks at the most crucial hour for your team, you might be vilified by your entire country. Poor Julio Cesar and Jasper Cillessen.

Okay football talk over.
See you during the next post!

Porcelain | Jars of Clay Collection: Part 1

Hi hello!

I'll try to keep today's post short because I have to sleep early because I have to get up at 4am to watch the Brazil vs Germany match and I would like to not be a zombie at work tomorrow. Haha. How's that for a run on sentence!

The first part of the Jars of Clay collection features clay beads from the Lun Bawang, part of the Orang Ulu of Sarawak. They have long been producing various handicrafts as a supplement to their income from agricultural work, and I chanced upon their booth during a handicraft market at Tropicana City Mall some time back. Naturally, I spent quite a bit of time poring over hundreds of pretty and so painstakingly handcrafted ceramic beads made using local river clay, and ended up buying lots!

Here's Porcelain, named for the clay bead's resemblance to the porcelain wares of olden days, for that specific, always recognisable cobalt "china" blue.
Off-white clay beads handpainted with swirls and zigzag patterns, in porcelain blue and jet black ink.
As each bead is painstakingly hand-moulded then carefully hand-painted, no one bead is identical. Of course the same patterns and rough sizes are there, but each bead is unique, thus making this bracelet all the more special. :)

Item Code & Name: 260 Porcelain
Price: RM20.00
Status: [Sold], Not Available
Materials: Blue Swirl, Black Swirl and Blue Zigzag Lun Bawang Beads, Clear Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Toggle Clasp
Measurements: Approximately 18cm (including clasp)

This is my favourite creation from this collection, and I hope you like it too!
If you like the beads but would like to make something different for yourself, you can always email me to customise it!

Jars of Clay - Collection Masterpost

I know it's only been a short while since the last collection, but this collection I am pretty excited about!

Here, have a lovely, colourful graphic that I snitched off the vast intrawebs!

As the name Jars of Clay suggests - this collection involves clay! No, I have not gone off the deep end and decided to switch careers and change to a life of pottery. This collection is not a collection of colourful jars. I have not moulded clay in my life and do not intend to start.

HOWEVER,
This collection does include handmade clay creations - featuring a variety of clay beads and a variety of polymer clay charms. I did not handmake these clay beads and charms - I merely bought them off much more creative people, mixed them up with some beads and crystals of my own and voila - they are Dainty Little Trinkets ready for the taking. :D

There are 2 distinct parts for this collection - the first part involving clay beads made by the Lun Bawang people from Sarawak - each bead meticuolously handcrafted from clay, handpainted and fired in a kiln; the second part involving polymer clay charms handmade by a local artisan - in soft pastel or bright and cheery colours.

The first post will begin on Tuesday. :)

Part 1: Porcelain
Part 2: Periwinkle
Part 4: Purple Storm
Part 7: Lil' Shroom

Polymer clay beads have featured on this site before - in the form of these gorgeous polymer clay roses, as seen here and here. These roses won't be making an appearance in this particular collection, but if you're interested, feel free to email me to customise something to suit your tastes!

I'll leave you with a song from Jars of Clay, which dates back to the days of my youth.

Painted Black

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won

The above are lyrics from one of the most beautiful and understated love songs I've ever listened to. Slow, bittersweet and wistful, the lyrics and melody come together in a lovely and heartrending masterpiece. Go listen to Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Iglova (the Kris Allen version is also excellent).

Here is a simple, understated bracelet that I hope reflects the song.
Flower links, jet black chinese crystal doughnuts, a Love link, accompanied by the stunning Silver Night Swarovski heart.
The Silver Night Swarovski heart has an AB finish - reflecting different hues of silver and black at different angles.
Item Code & Name: 259 Painted Black
Price: RM19.00
Status: Available
Materials: Jet-Black Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Flower Links, Love Link, Silver Night Swarovski Heart, Toggle Clasp
Measurements: Approximately 16.5cm (including clasp)

If you're new to this blog, note that all bracelets are customisable and can be adjusted to the customer's wrist length!

If you like the Silver Night Swarovski heart, check out another creation here!
For those who like dark accessories, check out the "black" label.

Contact me at
for any orders, enquiries, randomness.

- this is where I use this blog to talk about football -
Haha, I watched both the 12am and 4am games last night (this morning). A little sleep-deprived zombiefied. Such good matches (good job Germany and Brazil!), but poor Neymar and his vertebrae injury. It must be crushing to have to sit at the sidelines and not be able to take his team to victory. I've been rooting for Germany and Brazil thus far... torn about who I should support in the semi finals. For tonight, go Argentina and go Netherlands!

Okay I'm done, and shall leave you with the beautiful song that this piece has been inspired by:

Take this sinkin' boat
And point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice
You have the choice
You've made it now

Noir - Earrings

A long time ago
in a galaxy far, far away...

(Ok this is not a Star Wars post. Unfortunately. I would totally wear a necklace with an R2D2 pendant. Beep. Boop!)

I digress.

A long time ago, I made myself this simple black and silver bracelet called Noir. I never made a matching pair of earrings until recently, when inspiration struck after I bought the black pearls with gold swirls on them (as seen here). How I love the gold swirls! So here's a pair of earrings that take elements of the Noir bracelet, matched with those lovely black gold-swirly pearls.
Silver-black and jet black chinese crystal doughnuts, circle links and black pearls with gold swirls.
Item Code & Name: 258 Noir
Price: RM8.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Silver-Black & Jet Black Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Circle Links, Black Faux Pearls with Gold Swirls

Since these earrings were made as an a accompaniment to the bracelet, you can purchase both for the set price of RM20! :) Click here for more pictures of the bracelet.

Click here to find out how to order. :)

My Fair Lady

Ahoy July!

So fast these months come and go. For those who are fasting, wishing you a happy and reflective Ramadhan month. :)

Now that we're done celebrating the past with the Remix collection, it's time to showcase some new stuff! Flowers are no stranger to accessories from Dainty Little Trinkets, with 2 collections - the Dainty Little Flowers collection and the Daisies and Dahlias collection focusing on a variety of flower cabochons, and various other flower-themed trinkets (check out the flower label). In making all these accessories, I have somehow managed to not make myself anything with flower cabochons.

Since I recently splurged on two white/cream dresses with floral motifs, I thought I'd finally make myself a bracelet featuring a flower cabochon, whimsically titled My Fair Lady:

At the centre - an off-white dahlia on a square filigree, flanked by beads and crystals in various fair shades - ivory faux pearls, cloudy white chinese crystal doughnuts, white-striped acrylic beads, white faux pearls with gold swirls, and shiny white faux pearls.
This bracelet was born from me digging deep into my treasure chest of beads and crystals and making a bracelet out of all the white ones. Quite happy with the result, and the plus point is it matches a lot of my outfits. :)

Item Code & Name: 257 My Fair Lady
Price: RM15.00
Status: [Sold], Not Available
Materials: Ivory, Shiny White & White (with Gold Swirls) Faux Pearls, White Opal Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Striped White Acrylic Beads, Off-White Dahlia, Square Filigree
Measurements: Approximately 16.5cm (including clasp) + 2cm extender chain

It's available for remakes (update: not anymore! I've run out of the off-white dahlia, unfortunately), for anyone who likes. I'm running out of the striped acrylic bead though, so this is limited!

(Who's watching Argentina vs Switzerland tonight? I certainly am!)

May July bring you lots of love, joy and adventures!
