La Vie En Rose - Customised

除夕!

For those who celebrate Chinese New Year, I hope you are having a wonderful reunion dinner with your families! I for one am really really full from a really delicious vegetarian Chinese dinner with my family. Resting for a short while before we eat dessert! So this post shall be short, for the family (and more food) beckon!

A while back, my colleague Kim asked me to customise this pair of La Vie En Rose earrings to fit the Good Tidings bracelet that she was buying for another colleague.

Formerly in rosaline and clear crystal hues, this pair of earrings now exists in frosty white and blood red - rather fitting for the Chinese New Year too. Hehe, ya know, with the red auspicious hues and the flowers to signify the arrival of spring, and all.

Frosty white and blood red chinese crystal doughnuts linked with red roses on flower filigrees, and Love and Joy charms.
Item Code & Name: 150 La Vie En Rose (Customised)
Price: RM12.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Frosty White and Red Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Rose Cabochons on Flower Filigrees, Love Charm, Joy Charm

*Special Promo*
Purchase this pair of earrings together with the Good Tidings bracelet (here!) for RM28.
Just quote "SET026 Good Tidings" in your email to me. :)

Now go enjoy the fireworks, merry-making and non-stop-feasting.

How Long Will I Love You | Inspired by Love Songs Collection: Part 5

Alas, we have come to the end of the Inspired by Love Songs collection.

I thought I'd end with the most romantic song of them all - How Long Will I Love You - a 1990 classic by The Waterboys, more recently covered by Ellie Goulding and featured in the movie About Time. The lyrics are unerringly romantic, made all the more sweet by the piano and strings-led melody and Ellie's soft, husky vocal stylings.

Inspired by this lovely tune, I made a sweet and simple bracelet that I think represents the song rather well.
A simple chain bracelet with rose and clear crystal bicones flanking the infinity symbol at the centre - the answer to the question of "How long will I love you?". Dangling off the bracelet are a star charm and a rose Swarovski heart.

How long will I love you?
As long as stars are above you
And longer, if I can.
The bracelet against a silver background for a clearer view.

How long will I need you?
As long as the seasons need to
Follow their plan.
Item Code & Name: 171 How Long Will I Love You
Price: RM20.00 SALE: RM14 (30% off, while item remains Available)
Status: Available
Materials: Rose Swarovski Bicone, Clear Crystal Bicones, Infinity Link, Star Charm, Rose Swarovski Heart, Heart Clasp, Made With Love Charm
Measurements: Approximately 16cm (including clasp) + 2.5cm extender chain

Do email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com if interested.
Much love to you (yes you!) for reading this. :)

We're all travelling through time together
Every day of our lives
All we can do is do our best
To relish

This remarkable ride

Fasten You to Me | Inspired by Love Songs Collection: Part 4

Konbanwa~

Hope your Sunday has been lovely. I stuffed my face with pasar malam food, so all is well with the world. :D

This post features a song that was my first inspiration for the Inspired by Love Songs collection. It's this obscure indie song that I happened across one fine day, and have loved ever since. The lyrics are simple and poignant, the melody quiet and sweet.

If I had to choose one
Person to keep from
Falling off the earth to
Stay here with me
I'd hold on to you my
Foot tied to a tree you'd
Bid farewell to falling friends I'd

Fasten you to me
Pendant of a tree fastened to an asymmetrical chain of green round-faceted crystals and clover links.

 Fasten you to me
Held down by the roots of a tree

Item Code & Name: 170 Fasten You to Me
Price: RM18.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Green Round-Faceted Chinese Crystals, Clover Links, Tree Pendant
Measurements: Approximately 44.5cm (including clasp) + 3.5cm extender chain; Drop = 3.5cm
With that, I bid you good night.
Let the song below lull you to a peaceful slumber.

Poison and Wine | Inspired by Love Songs Collection: Part 3

Hola!

Hope everyone is having a fun and relaxing Saturday. I certainly am savouring every moment (well, I just woke up. The sleep was divine). What rhymes with divine? Wine! What does wine have to do with anything? Well, it's part of the title of this post! Why do my thought processes work the way that they do? God only knows, man.

Ok, I shall end that bit of Saturday morning quirkiness and attempt to sound sane for the rest of the post.

We've come to the mid-way point of the Inspired by Love Songs collection. I hope you've been enjoying it so far. This next trinket is inspired by a lovely song that illustrates how love is full of contradictions - Poison and Wine. This is a sweeping, haunting song by The Civil Wars, so please scroll down and listen to it yeah?
Jet black helix crystals to represent poison, burgundy pearls and deep purple round-faceted chinese crystals to represent wine. A tinier crystal encased within a round double-twisted ring, with love as the key.
You only know what I want you to
I know everything you don't want me to
Oh your mouth is poison, your mouth is wine
You think your dreams are the same as mine

Oh I don't love you, but I always will
I always will
Item Code & Name: 169 Poison and Wine
Price: RM17.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Burgundy Faux Pearls, Deep Purple Round Faceted Chinese Crystals, Jet Black Helix Crystals, Round Double-Twisted Ring, Heart-Shaped Key Charm, Toggle Clasp
Measurements: Approximately 17.5cm (including clasp)

Find out how to order here.
As always, customisation is possible. :)

Go listen to this moving duet by The Civil Wars and lose yourself in the push and pull of the lyrics, the blend of their voices, and the complexity of love:

So She Dances | Inspired by Love Songs Collection: Part 2

A waltz when she walks in the room
She pulls back the hair from her face
She turns to the window to sway in the moonlight
Even her shadow has grace

Oh, this song.

When Josh Groban sings this tale of pining as he watches a lovely lady dance from afar, you can't help but be moved by the romance of it all. I love everything about this song - the melody starts off like one of those old music boxes and each lyric is sung with a quiet, yearning conviction. You are transported to a ballroom with moonlight streaming in through the windows, and all else fades away. *happy sigh*

Loving this song like I do, it's only natural that I made a little trinket dedicated to it. I haven't featured handbag charms in any collections before, so here's a first. Part 2 of the Inspired by Love Songs collection, So She Dances:
Midnight blue and dark silver pearls to set the scene, as the dancing takes place under the moonlight.
The other charms and links are inspired by the following lyrics:

She's spinning between constellations and dreams
Her rhythm is my beating heart

So she dances
In and out of the crowd like a glance
This romance is
From afar calling me silently
If you're wondering, the link in the centre is what I like to call my snowflake/star hybrid charm. Here, it represents a star - that girl who is spinning between constellations and dreams, whose rhythm is your beating heart.

Oh be still my beating heart. If someone ever sang this song to me, I might dissolve into a puddle. But I can safely say that that will never happen as I have two left feet. :p

Item Code & Name: 168 So She Dances
Price: RM10.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Midnight Blue and Dark Silver Faux Pearls, Heart Link, Star Link, Dancer Charm

Email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com if you're interested - if you have a lovely lady in your life to purchase this for, or if you have a sister or friend who loves dancing, or if you yourself love to dance, and would like to carry a memento with you wherever you go.

Now listen to this beautiful song and luxuriate in Josh Groban's soulful, resonating vocals.

Sweet dreams.

CNY Collaboration with I Can't Sew - Part 3

Interrupting the current collection to bring you my latest and last CNY collaboration with I Can't Sew.

Chinese New Year is just around the corner, so head on over to I Can't Sew for some pretty awesome promotional packages, pretty dresses and pretty cheongsams!

To continue along these promotional packages' theme of dresses and blouses along the pink-red spectrum, here's a lovely pink shift dress that goes very nicely with Dainty Little Trinket's Darling Dahlias necklace.

The dress is very mod and chic, and also slightly looser on the waist to hide any effects of the binging you may or may not be doing during the festivities. I know I will be! I, for one, love the dress, as it's formal enough for work, and versatile enough for play. Matched with the sweet, simple Darling Dahlias necklace, you will be the very picture of poised, demure elegance.

The normal prices of these two items would add up to RM79, but it's instead going at RM55 - the dress's original price. So it's a free necklace, yo! What's not to love? :p

Check out the promo package on I Can't Sew's webpage here ♥

Wings | Inspired by Love Songs Collection: Part 1

One of my favourite things about music is that we can all relate to songs in one way or another. When I'm down and in need of some "wallowing", I like to drown myself in a sea of melancholic tunes. It's a cathartic experience.

This first post in the Inspired by Love Songs collection is based on one of my recent favourites - Wings, by Birdy. At the young age of 17, Birdy's voice is lilting and mellifluous, the lyrics wistful and yearning, and the melody soaring and evocative.

Here's a bracelet inspired by this lovely tune.
A diamond link flanked by wing charms and crystal bicones, ending with an antique silver-plated heart toggle.

Lights go down
In the moment we’re lost and found
I just wanna be by your side
If these wings could fly

The lyrics of this song suggest that the writer is reminiscing about a certain time in his/her life and wishes for time to be suspended in that moment, with that special someone. I deliberately kept the bracelet simple and elegant, to reflect that quality of timelessness.
Item Code & Name: 167 Wings
Price: RM15.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Crystal Bicones, Wing Charms, Diamond Link, Heart Toggle Clasp
Measurements: Approximately 17cm (including clasp)

Here be the beautiful song. Give it a listen:

If you'd like to purchase this or anything featured on this site, please email me at

Thank you and good night. :)

Inspired By Love Songs - Collection Masterpost

"If music be the food of love, play on."
- Shakespeare

Ah, music. It is perhaps second only to food, in my list of things that I love. I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say that music can lift the soul, comfort the weary, express feelings that we can never so eloquently and adequately express.

With Valentine's just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to marry my love for music with my love for making dainty little trinkets, and make an entire collection that is inspired by songs - by love songs. This collection is by no means only limited to those who are in love. After all, love takes on many forms and can be expressed in many different ways.

It has been so long since my last collection (November!), so I am quite excited to introduce something new.

The songs titles below are all songs that have resonated with me at some point or another, songs with lilting melodies and meaningful lyrics. As I post them over the next week or so, I hope you enjoy the songs (and the accessories) as much as I've enjoyed the songs (and enjoyed handcrafting the accessories)!

Part 1: Wings
Part 2: So She Dances

First post begins on Tuesday. :)

Now - whatever you're feeling at the moment - be it happy, sad, tired or angry (or anything in between), go listen to a favourite song of yours, go listen to something classic, or something new, and things will somehow be better.

Interwoven

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

Actually it wasn't a galaxy. It was a land far, far away - the land down under. There lived 3 housemates in a little townhouse on campus, where they studied, laughed, ate copious amounts of food, and had an all-round good time.

I made us the following pairs of matching earrings to commemorate those 4 years of friendship that have persisted through these years. I still remember Esther telling Mindy and I - "I feel like a fish out of water" during orientation - our chance meeting resulting in lives interwoven.

Matching earrings in shades of blue, green and purple - tiny Czech Preciosa crystals, lattice links, and crystal teardrops. The lattice links look almost like a woven tapestry, hence the name Interwoven

I did take individual photos of each pair, but it was on an abnormally sunny day, and that, compared with my complete lack of photography skillz and lack of photoshop skillz has made them utterly ghastly.

Here's the one that turned out somewhat ok:
Item Code & Name: 158 Interwoven (blue / green / purple)
Price: RM12.00 each pair
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Light Indigo / Light Chartreuse / Amethyst Czech "Preciosa" Fire-Polished Glass Beads, Lattice Links, Sapphire / Forest Green / Deep Purple Chinese Crystal Teardrops

Interested? Email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com!
Enjoy your long weekend!

Interlinked and Intertwined

Bonjour!

Here's post no. 23434 featuring more trinkets I've made for my family and friends for Christmas.

Here are two pairs of earrings featuring charms that I have since long ago (well 6 months anyway), taken to symbolise the bonds of friendship, the ties that bind, the connections that never truly break. These were made for friends that I haven't had a chance to give the presents to, so their names shall not appear here so the surprise isn't spoilt. Haha.

Celtic knots and round double-twisted rings - oh how our lives are interlinked and intertwined. If you tend towards the cynical and do not appreciate how cheesy I am being, then leave. :p This entire blog is a cheese-fest and I shall luxuriate in it!
Celtic knot links and burnt-burgundy crystal teardrops. These teardrops are quite fascinating - certain facets come across as dark burgundy while certain facets shimmer with a burnt-gold sheen.

Item Code & Name: 164 Interlinked
Price: RM10.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Celtic Knot Links, Burnt Burgundy Chinese Crystal Teardrops
Round double-twisted rings with ivory pearls encased within, and sleek silver pearls that dangle at the end. I am quite fond of this pair of earrings, so much so that I made a slightly different pair for myself (to be featured sometime in the near future).

Item Code & Name: 165 Intertwined
Price: RM8.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Ivory and Silver Faux Pearls, Round Double-Twisted Rings

Here's to the bond of friendship and lives that are intertwined - may all of you who are reading this always have these deep connections, these ties that will never be broken, and love that will endure through all things.

CNY Collaboration with I Can't Sew - Part 2

Wheee holiday tomorrow!
I love public holidays! :)

I'm here again to share our 2nd collaboration with I Can't Sew!
Feast your eyes~

I really love this dress they're featuring. It's whimsically named the 'Coral Princess Chiffon Dress', a lovely flowing coral-peach affair, matched with Dainty Little Trinkets' 'Seychelles' set - a long necklace and earring set with seashell beads and little dolphin links.

Methinks the sweet ivory seashells go very nicely with the coral-peach shades of the dress - a thoroughly Oceanic affair. :)

Originally at RM86, this package is now going for RM59 only. Such a steal, don't ya think?

Check out the promo package on I Can't Sew's webpage here ♥
Check out more pics and details of the Seychelles set here ♥

Good night and enjoy your day off tomorrow :)

Queen of Hearts

My favourite person in the whole wide world is my mummy. She has been ever supportive of this hobby of mine, humouring me everytime I show her every creation, accompanying me through KL heat and traffic on my bead shopping sprees, offering encouragement and unwavering support. :)

My recent trip to Australia was actually to attend my brother's graduation, and mummy wanted something elegant, with a dash of colour and sparkle to accompany her black dress. Here's the necklace I made for her:
A dash of red and a hint of sparkle - ruby red crystal doughnuts paired with silver-black crystal doughnuts.

The crystals on the necklace are also interspersed with little clover links, ending of course, with the intricately-patterned celtic heart pendant.

Item Code & Name: 155 Queen of Hearts
Price: RM22.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Ruby Red and Silver-Black Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Clover Links, Celtic Heart Pendant
Measurements: Approximately 42.5cm (including clasp) + 2.5cm extender chain; Drop = 2cm
If you're reading this, show your mum some love today with a great big hug! Treat them like the queens that they are.

Bookmarks

Ze week is extremely hectic and I am über tired, so this post shall be a short one.

Short by my standards, that is. Probably still too verbose for everyone else's. Oh well. It's my blog and I'll ramble if I want to (3 gold stars if you spot the reference)!

Here are 2 bookmarks that I made as Christmas pressies for two good friends of mine. :)
Silver bookmarks engraved with whimsical flowers, with little charms carrying personal meanings and inside jokes. :D

For Ivy

So it is Sunday evening.
As this post is being published, I am probably on a flight back from Sarawak, feeling dejected at the idea of another work week that looms ahead. Yeah yeah, enough melodrama from me, I know. :p This is not a personal blog to spring forth all my whiny complaints, I know. On to the accessories, then. :)

In yet another "look what I got you for Christmas" feature, here are a pair of earrings I made for Ivy. Like Ai Li, Ivy is no stranger to this blog - in fact, if you click on this asymmetrical tag, lots of the items there were made for her. So last Christmas, I was faced with a dilemma - what was I to make for the reigning queen of asymmetry, the champion of mismatched things, that would somehow still appeal to my anal-retentive nature and love for order?

Voila - use the same ingredients but shake up the order a little!

Sweet lilac roses on flower filigrees, with tiny clusters of silver/purple/rosaline pearls (the rosaline pearls are somewhat invisible due to my poor photoshop skillz), and larger lilac pearls. The asymmetry adds a dash of originality and quirkiness to this sweet, demure pair of earrings - much like the owner. :p
Item Code & Name: 144 Rosy Posy
Price: RM10.00
Status: Not Available
Materials: Silver, Purple, Rosaline and Lilac Faux Pearls, Lilac Rose Cabochons, Flower Filigrees

Have a good week ahead, my rosy little posies.
Remember that each one of you is a unique little blossom, ready to bloom and take on the world!

(Wow does that not sound like a motivational quote gone wrong? Heehee)

For Ai Li

Hola!

I'm actually on a mini-trip to Sarawak at the moment (hopefully gorging myself on kolo mee, Sarawak laksa, tomato kuay teow, fresh seafood and other yummy Sarawakian delicacies), so here's a scheduled post.

My friend Ai Li, who has featured rather frequently on this blog as she is one of my most ardent supporters (), is a fan of pretty pastel colours. She particularly liked the colour combination of the tiny little sparkly Swarovski bicones in my lacey bracelet. So naturally, for Christmas, I gave her these Pretty Pastel earrings! :D

Swarovski bicones in shades of light rose, light sapphire, aquamarine and violet, paired with rosaline crystal teardrops for that touch of glamour and sophistication. Another pair of earrings that I kinda covet. :p

Item Code & Name: 138 Pretty Pastels
Price: RM15.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Light Rose, Violet, Light Sapphire and Aquamarine Swarovski Bicones, Rosaline Crystal Teardrops

As always, please place orders at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com.
I'll respond to your emails as soon as I finish stuffing my face all over Sarawak. :D

For Wei Lyn

First day of 2014 back at work or school for most of us, eh?
Hope your 2014 has started with a bang. If it's been hectic, no worries, as the weekend is near!

Now that the Christmas season has passed, the next few posts are gonna be about the Christmas presents I made for my friends. :) I'm quite happy with how they turned out, so I hope you like 'em too!

First up is a bracelet I am rather fond of. I've named it Tree of Gondor, because I am a huge fan of Lord of the Rings (and so is Wei Lyn, who I gave this bracelet to). Also, I rather love the varying beads in varying shades of green. :)
A lone tree charm that resembles the white tree of gondor, and a bead with tree branch engravings.
A medley of green tones - light chartreuse and emerald Czech Preciosa crystals, sea-green chinese crystal doughnuts, and dark green chrysocolla beads. Chrysocolla beads are derived from chrysocolla stones, a minor ore of copper, and can range from blueish turquoise to green to earth tones. Fascinating stuff, these minerals. Pretty, too! :)
Pardon the quality of photos - this bracelet looks a lot more vibrant and a lot less washed out in real life.

Item Code & Name: 147 Tree of Gondor
Price: RM20.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Light Chartreuse and Emerald Czech "Preciosa" Fire-Polished Glass Beads, Sea-Green Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Dark Green Chrysocolla Beads, Tree Charm, Bead with Tree Branch Engraving
Measurements: Approximately 17cm (including clasp) + 2.5cm extender chain

To order, email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com.

That's all, folks.
G'night.
