Estelle | Hearts and Lace Collection: Part 4

Lo, the last installment in the Hearts and Lace collection has dawned upon us!

The name Estelle has long been a favourite of mine - derived from the Latin root word Stella, meaning star and popularised by Charles Dickens for his character Estella in Great Expectations. I first came upon the name while watching the 1992 modern-telling of Great Expectations, starring the starry-eyed, earnest Ethan Hawke and the beautiful but cold and unattainable Gwyneth Paltrow. The movie, for some inexplicable reason, has stayed with me throughout the years. Anyway, this post is not about movies.

Onto the accessory I have named Estelle:
Black lace, an intricate celtic heart pendant and a single silver-black crystal - a lone star.
This piece has a distinctive gothic vibe to it, though the flower-patterned lace and the swirls in the celtic heart soften it a little.
It almost looks like a bookmark - also rather short in length, because it is measured to fit my bony wrists.
Orders for this will be made to your specifications.

Item Code & Name: 108 Estelle
Price: RM14.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Black Lace, Celtic Heart Pendant, Silver-Black Chinese Crystal Doughnuts
Measurements: Approximately 14.5cm (including clasp) (Remakes can be adjusted to the customer's wrist length)

I shall leave you with some snippets from the movie, accompanied by a song that I have loved since watching that movie - the haunting and wistful Life in Mono.

The stranger sang a theme
From someone else's dream
The leaves began to fall
And no one spoke at all
But I can't seem to recall
When you came along

Arielle | Hearts and Lace Collection: Part 2

Happy Sunday (or what's left of it). T__T

Rather than focus on the demise of our precious weekends, let's talk about happier, heartier, lacier things - the next installment of the Hearts and Lace collection.
Apparently, the name Arielle has Hebrew origins and means Lion of God. The necklace I've named Arielle has nothing leonine or valiant or majestic about it. But it is such a pretty name, no? What follows is what I think is a rather pretty and dainty piece. ◕‿◕
A love affair with lace and Swarovski crystals - a lace flower and rose Swarovski heart pendant, with tiny light rose Swarovski bicones and heart links on the chain.
This rose-coloured necklace is also available in aquamarine, for those who prefer blue to pink.

The little hearts fall right at the clavicle, flanked by the sparkling Swarovski bicones.

Item Code & Name: 106 Arielle
Price: RM21.00 SALE: RM15 only (30% off, while item remains Available)
Status: Available
Materials: Lace Flower, Rose Swarovski Heart, Light Rose Swarovski Bicones, Heart Links
Measurements: Approximately 43cm (including clasp) + 3.5cm extender chain

The aquamarine version is made to order, so drop me an email at
 if you feel so inclined!

Hearts and Lace Collection - Masterpost

Lace has been all the rage lately.

Well, it's been all the rage for quite a few years already now, and will probably never go out of style. Not that one always has to keep up with fashion - do what you like, wear what you like, be whoever you wanna be, and all that jazz, yeah? :)

Nevertheless, since I am quite in love with all things lacey (see exhibit A and exhibit B), I have decided to dedicate an entire collection to all things lace!

Introducing... the Hearts and Lace collection:

Featuring a variety of hearts, lots of lovely lace, sugar, spice, and all things nice.

Part 2: Arielle
Part 3: Noelle
Part 4: Estelle

Decided to name the accessories a little differently this time - all with girl's names that end in -elle, because the names are pretty and represent the sweetness and femininity of the lace accessories pretty well.

First post: Saturday - see you then!

It's almost the weekend; I feel it in my fingers (I feel it in my toesss)!

Noir

I am the terror that flaps in the night...
I am...
Dark Wing Duck!

Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now.
So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero.
He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector.
A Dark Knight.

What do the two quotes above have in common?
(Besides being there to fully illustrate the fact that I have lost ALL my marbles, that is)

They're both superheroes, of course.
They're both dark and mysterious.
They also both lurk (or flap - they both flap) in the black of the night.

Which brings me to my point (worst segues in the history of segues) -- Noir, besides being a film genre, is also the French word for Black. Since black comprises half my wardrobe, I wanted to make myself a simple bracelet in black/silver tones - all dark and bleak and befitting my personality. :p Here it is:
Jet black and silver-black chinese crystal doughnuts, an arrow heart charm, and two circle links
The arrow and circle links (resembling targets) add to the Noir-ish vibe of this piece.
Item Code & Name: 103 Noir
Price: RM14.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Jet Black and Silver-Black Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Arrow Heart Charm, Circle Link, Toggle Clasp
Measurements: Approximately 15.5cm (including clasp) (Remakes can be adjusted to 17.5cm in length with the addition of two silver-black crystals)

Edited 4 Jul 2014 - this bracelet now comes with matching earrings. Click here! :)

If you'd fancy a remake, please email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com

That's all for now.
I shall now turn on my heel and flap into the dark of the night
(like Batman / Dark Wing Duck / Severus Snape / a Vampire)

 - the end -

English Rain

Sunday's almost over. :(
Oh well, I shall be in denial for a little while longer (the later I sleep, the longer tomorrow takes to come, right?).

It is probably pretty obvious to my regular blog-visitors (hello, all 5 of you! haha) that I delight in naming my accessories. It's half the fun. This bracelet went through many name revisions, and I was so so tempted to call it something besides English Rain, but ultimately decided to stick with that because:
1. It sounds classier and somewhat whimsical
2. I'm in love with Gabrielle Aplin's so-titled debut album and everyone should listen to it
3. It somewhat fits the theme of the bracelet
4. The alternatives names were:
a. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
b. You Can Stand Under My Umbrella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh

I promise there was a reason for those names (besides my neurosis, that is). It will become apparent when you look at the pictures of the bracelet below. Or I will explain it in my typically long-winded fashion so that the point will be drummed into your head ad nauseam. Or perhaps you've already skipped my ridiculously rambly and quite unnecessary tirade and gone straight for the pictures. For those who read through this, I thank you. :D

Pictures!
Cloudy white and cloudy turquoise chinese crystal doughnuts and the occasional chinese knot link form the chain of the bracelet. The crystals are cloudy - hence my strong strong temptation to name this piece Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
An ode to friendship -- those who will share all the love and all the joy you experience in this life, and will be there, come rain or come shine. Hence the umbrella charm. If that wasn't apparent. :p Rihanna's overplayed pop ditty makes the same point about friendship - You Can Stand Under My Umbrella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh.
The cloudy white and turquoise crystals have a lovely opaque quality about them, which doesn't come out nicely in the pictures above. Here, have a picture of the bracelet against a silver background:

Item Code & Name: 102 English Rain
Price: RM17.00 SALE: RM12 only (30% off, while item remains Available)
Status: Available
Materials: Cloudy White and Cloudy Turquoise Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Chinese Knot Links, Love Charm, Umbrella Charm, Friends-Butterfly Charm, Joy Charm
Measurements: Approximately 18cm (including clasp) + 2.5cm extender chain

Do email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com for orders/enquiries/general nonsense.

Now go listen to the mellifluous tones of Gabrielle Aplin - here's the album sampler for English Rain:

'Cause they say home
- is where your heart is set in stone
- is where you go when you're alone
- is where you go to rest your bones
It's not just where you lay your head
It's not just where you make your bed
As long as we're together, does it matter where we go?

Have a good week ahead, y'all.

Hoot!

Rise and shine!

Now that yet another collection is over, it's time to showcase a couple of individual things I've made for certain individuals. Individual things for certain individuals. Pinnacle of eloquence, I am. It's early, parts of my brain have yet to wake. :p

Just as we are waking and going about our morning routines, owls - big and small - all over the world are retiring into their tree trunks, and surrendering to a peaceful slumber. (That is, as peaceful as it can get when they have to keep an eye out for predators / interfering humans). Why am I nattering on about owls, anyway? Because I am about to feature a pair of owl earrings, of course.

I made this pair of earrings for Ren, who is a fellow Harry Potter enthusiast, and probably appreciates owls as much as I do. That is to say, we think of owls like Hedwig (OH HEDWIG! How tragic was thy death!) and feel a moment of nostalgia for the series. So, since I had an arsenal of cutesy owl charms at my disposal, what better way to utilise them than to have them dangling from your ears, staring owlishly (heehee) at the world around you?

Tiny lavender faux pearls and round-faceted chinese crystals paired with the ever lovely Czech Preciosa fire-polished glass beads. More importantly, the cutest grumpy-looking owls EVAR! :3
The Czech Preciosa beads have a lovely metallic-purple AB shine. Can't actually decide whether I like Swarovski crystals or Czech Preciosa crystals more.

Item Code & Name: 101 Hoot!
Price: RM8.00
Status: Available for Remakes
Materials: Lavender Faux Pearls, Lavender Round-Faceted Chinese Crystals, Metallic Purple AB Czech "Preciosa" Fire-Polished Glass Beads

Have a friend who resembles a grumpy owl who you'd like to get this pair of earrings for?
(Ren, if you're reading this, I'm not saying you're a grumpy owl k; you are the sweetest, fluffiest baby owl )

If so, I can be reached at

Customisation is always possible!

Harry Potter fans, check out other HP-related creations here!

Hoot!

Midnight in Paris | Little Black Dress Collection: Part 6

Salut, mes amies!

I totally used Google Translate for that.

If you're wondering why I've suddenly turned into a Francophile (someone who loves all things French, not someone who loves James Franco, haha), the answer is I haven't. But I can't help that the La Tour Eiffel charm is so pretty and lovely and practically begging to be included in another bracelet, can I? *nods*

Part 6, the very last installment of the Little Black Dress collection, features a bracelet I have whimsically named after a Woody Allen movie - Midnight in Paris.
A chain of jet black round-faceted chinese crystals, dark silver and midnight blue faux pearls set the scene: a dark night. Midnight. Illuminating the night is a single crescent moon, the Eiffel Tower in the background and L'Amour in the form of a stunning bermuda blue Swarovski heart.
Shades of silver, midnight blue and jet black complement the sleek black dress - suitable for a romantic night out, dinner under the stars, midnight in Paris.
Item Code & Name: 100 Midnight in Paris
Price: RM22.00
Status: [Sold\, Available for remakes
Materials: Jet Black Round Faceted Chinese Crystals, Midnight Blue and Dark Silver Faux Pearls, Moon Charm, Eiffel Tower Charm, Bermuda Blue Swarovski Heart
Measurements: Approximately 17cm (including clasp)

Find out how to order here :)

Bonsoir.

Vive la France | Little Black Dress Collection: Part 5

Bonsoir~

We're nearing the end of the Little Black Dress collection. Part 5 of the collection is an ode to France of sorts. Ah, France. Home of the language of romance, the city of lovers, escargots and rude people. The last one might be a stereotype, haha.

I visited France as a little child, and only have hazy memories of those days. What I do remember is going up the Eiffel tower, and feeding pigeons up there. I love the Eiffel tower and all its beauty. This sentiment seems to be echoed by oodles and oodles of women, since there are Eiffel tower charms / pendants / accessories everywhere the eye can see! I, of course, jumped on the bandwagon. :)

Clear-silver and silver-black chinese crystal doughnuts resemble tiny, glittering lights that illuminate the Eiffel tower.
The charm next to the Eiffel tower is the Fleur de Lis symbol - the national flower of France. Also note the inclusion of dainty mesh ribbon links - adding a little character to the otherwise sombre piece.

Item Code & Name: 099 Vive le France
Price: RM15.00 SALE: RM10.50 only (30% off, while item remains Available)
Status: Available
Materials: Clear-Silver and Silver-Black Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Mesh Ribbon Links, Fleur de Lis Charm, Eiffel Tower Charm, Toggle Clasp
Measurements: Approximately 18.5cm (including clasp)

For orders/enquiries, email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com
S'il vous plaît and merci.

Au revoir.

Girl with a Pearl Earring | Little Black Dress Collection: Part 4

They say diamonds are a girl's best friend.
For the less wealthy and materialistic, pearls are a good alternative.
For the even less wealthy, faux pearls are good enough! Well they're good enough for me, anyway. Faux pearls have the distinction of being completely uniform, with a classy and elegant appearance - always a good match with Little Black Dresses.

I suppose the movie adaptation of Girl with a Pearl Earring needs no introduction. However, the pearl earrings in this post look nothing like the one Scarlett Johansson wears in the movie - I just thought it was a cool name for a pair of earrings. :p

Pardon the lousy attempt at photoshop - white accessories are supremely difficult to photograph and edit. :|
Classic ivory pearl earrings with a twist -- thin silver chains dangle from the earrings to provide that little bit of glitz and glamour. (They also resemble octopi / alien life-forms. Heehee.)

Item Code & Name: 098 Girl with a Pearl Earring
Price: RM8.00 SALE: RM6 only (25% off, while item remains Available)
Status: Available
Materials: Ivory Pearls, Thin Cable Chain

 What are you waiting for?
BE the girl with a (pair of) pearl earring(s) by emailing me here to purchase them. Heh.

Red and Black | Little Black Dress Collection: Part 3

Mmm lazy rainy Saturday mornings.

Last night I dreamt I was a lead in a musical, but it was a disaster because I could not remember the choreography and the sequence of songs and half way through, the director (inexplicably it was Simon Cowell) asked someone else to replace me. Cue lots of melodrama. Oh subconscious, what are you trying to tell me?

Anyway my pseudo-nightmare is kind of related to this post in that this post is inspired by a song from one of my favourite musicals - Les Miserables' Red and Black.

Red: the blood of angry men!
Black: the dark of ages past!
Red: a world about to dawn!
Black: the night that ends at last!

Red: I feel my soul on fire!
Black: My world if she's not there!
Red: The color of desire!
Black: The color of despair!

I sometimes find myself singing this song at the top of my lungs.

IRRELEVANT.

Anyway, as depicted in the song above, red and black are both very strong colours which can evoke and represent a variety of emotions. They also happen to go (in my humble opinion) very nicely with little black dresses. So here's my little bracelet offering in those rich hues:
Rich red and jet black chinese crystal doughnuts, little Celtic heart beads and a Siam Swarovski heart.
I quite like the little Celtic heart beads and the overall effect of them in this simple design.
Item Code & Name: 097 Red and Black
Price: RM16.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Siam and Jet Black Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Siam Swarovski Heart, Celtic Heart Beads, Toggle Clasp
Measurements: Approximately 17cm (including clasp)

Check out the rest of the accessories in the Little Black Dress collection here!
You know the drill:
Email me at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com with questions/orders/general rambling.

Now go listen to this and sing with me!

Let us welcome it gladly with courage and cheer
Let us take to the streets with no doubt in our hearts
But a jubilant shout
They will come one and all
They will come when we call!

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall | Little Black Dress Collection: Part 2

Hello friends!

I am sleepy, so this post will be relatively short (well, short by my standards anyway. Heehee).

Part 2 of the Little Black Dress collection will feature a pair of earrings! A pair of earrings that I have decided to keep for myself because I love them and they're versatile and will go with my array of little black dresses! Just kidding, I don't have thaaat many little black dresses. Just two. Hmm maybe I should buy more. :p

In the continuing saga of my love affair with crystal teardrops, this post predictably features a pair of earrings with crystal teardrops, this time in clear crystal - classy, timeless, elegant.

Clear Swarovski bicones and round faceted chinese crystals cascade down a silver chain with a crystal teardrop at the end. Thus, the inspiration for the name Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. :)

So I thought ivory/white accessories were hard to photograph against a white background. Clear accessories are worse, so here are the earrings against a silver background, in all their lovely, clear, reflective glory.

Item Code & Name: 096 Every Teardrop is a Waterfall
Price: RM15.00
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Clear Swarovski Bicones, Clear Round Faceted Chinese Crystals, Clear Chinese Crystal Teardrops

With that, I shall end tonight's post with these earrings' namesake -- go forth and listen!

Goodnight.

Silver Spheres | Little Black Dress Collection: Part 1

Wheeee, I'm always excited to post about new collections. :)

The first post in the Little Black Dress collection features a necklace and earring set in the colour silver. I love silver accessories because they usually go with everything and can be at times understated, and at times provide just enough bling, just enough of a sparkle to be attention-grabbing. Hopefully this set strikes that balance.
A necklace of equidistant clear-silver crystal doughnuts and dangling silver spheres, with matching earrings

Item Code & Name: SET018 Silver Spheres
Price: RM22.00 (necklace + earrings) - items can be sold separately, please look below.
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Please see below.
The dainty silver circles have the so-called "diamond-cut" - multiple facets that reflect light and add a certain sparkle.
The crystal doughnuts are clear on one side and have silver facets on the other (you can see this if you compare the first picture with this one) - a thoroughly sparkly affair.

Item Code & Name: 094 Silver Spheres (Earrings)
Price: RM8.00 (earrings only)
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Clear-Silver Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Diamond-Cut Silver-Plated Circles

Silver-clear crystal doughnuts circle around the neck like tiny shiny constellations, with silver spheres dangling down the neckline.

Suitable for little black dresses with v-shaped or plunging necklines. It will either draw attention to or slightly cover certain parts you may want to draw peoples' attention to or shade peoples' eyes from. You decide. ;)

Item Code & Name: 095 Silver Spheres (Necklace)
Price: RM18.00 (necklace only)
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Clear-Silver Chinese Crystal Doughnuts, Diamond-Cut Silver-Plated Circles

Take the plunge (pun-intended, heehee) and purchase this to accessorize with your little black dress / little black whatever / whatever clothing you'd like really!

Little Black Dress Collection - Masterpost

I know what you're thinking.

Has this person gone barmy? Has she decided to turn her handmade accessories blogshop into one selling clothes instead? Selling little black dresses, no less?

Not to fear, I have not lost my marbles (or what was left of them anyway). I am not forsaking the ancient art of making accessories for selling clothing. Not that there's anything wrong with selling online clothing. God knows I buy enough clothes online to fill a wardrobe (and more). But I digress.

The point, my friends, of this new collection, is to have accessories that are versatile, that can be worn for various occasions, versatile as the little black dress, if you will. Versatile enough to be worn with your array of little black dresses, if the mood fits. Now that I've overhyped this collection, have a picture:

Focus on the little black dresses in the picture and not the long legs of the models, mmmkay? :p

Posts begin this coming Tuesday.

Part 3: Red and Black

Spot the various song and movie references in the titles. Sometimes I think I like naming my accessories more than I like creating them. Anyone want to hire me as a copywriter? ;)

Have a good week ahead. Be good. Or try.

Toodles!

The Golden Snitch (Necklace and Earrings)

 Happy Saturday, my friends!

So, who has heard the awesome news that there will be a movie in the Harry Potter universe, based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? With the script written by the great JK Rowling herself, I have no doubt that it will be wonderful. *flail*

Read the news here and flail with me! Or don't flail, but I presume you would've already wandered off to some other corner of the internet if you're not an avid Harry Potter fan like I am. :)

Inspired by this wonderful piece of news, and also by the fact that I haven't made myself something in a while, I decided to modify the previously posted Golden Snitch bracelet and make it into a necklace with matching earrings for meself!
Marrying geekiness with pretty accessories - it is possible to be a geek and like girly things! ◡‿◡✿

Item Code & Name: SET015 The Golden Snitch
Price: RM20.00 (necklace + earrings) - items can be sold separately, please look below. (Also, other "combo sets" are available, please scroll to the end of the post)
Status: Not Available
Materials: Please see below.
The winged snitch split into half -- I thought it would be too much to attach two large wing charms to each side, hence the split. Think of it as two halves that make a whole. Haha.
Item Code & Name: 086 The Golden Snitch (Earrings)
Price: RM8.00 (earrings only)
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Gold Faux Pearls, Antique Silver-Plated Wing Charms
This is a choker-style necklace; the pearl should rest at the top of your sternum, with the wings "taking flight" just slightly above your clavicle, as seen below:

 Spot the earrings! :)
Item Code & Name: 087 The Golden Snitch (Necklace)
Price: RM15.00 (necklace only)
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Gold Faux Pearls, Antique Silver-Plated Wing Charms

Item Code & Name: SET016 The Golden Snitch (bracelet + earrings)

Contentment - Customised

Tonight I had a very scrumptious dinner of chili pan mee. I am feeling uber satisfied and content. All is well with the world when your tastebuds have been appeased and your belly is full.

Speaking of Contentment, a very nice customer by the name of Charles ordered a customised version of this Contentment bracelet from the Personalised Statement Bracelets collection, for my friend Mel's mummy. While the original bracelet was in sleek shades of dark purple and dark silver, Mel's mum has a preference for lighter colours, so here it is in soft pastel shades:
A sweet combination of dusty pink and soft lilac faux pearls, and a celtic flower link at the centre. I will never tire of the pretty pastel colour palette. J'adore.
Intricate flower links displaying the keys to contentment: having love and joy in one's life.
Item Code & Name: 088 Contentment (Customised)
Price: RM18.00
Status: [Sold], Available for remakes
Materials: Dusty Pink and Soft Lilac Faux Pearls, Celtifc Flower Link, Flower Links, Love Charm, Joy Charm
Measurements: Approximately 17cm (including clasp) + 2.5cm extender chain

Find out how to order something for yourself here.

Till the next time,
good night.

For Bawanie

Lo and behold, October has come! Oh how the months fly by.

Since the last post was about birthdays, so shall this one be! My colleague and friend Bawanie had her birthday much much earlier in September, and knowing that she likes flower cabochons, I made a pair of flower cabochon earrings for her.

Dainty little rose cabochons in a sweet shade of mint-green, with twin dangling chains of emerald crystal teardrops.
These earrings very much match the Minty Meadows necklace that I posted some time ago. You could purchase them together and revel in the minty madness! Or something. :)

Item Code & Name: 093 Minty Meadows (Earrings)
Price: RM9.00 (RM7.00 if purchased together with the Minty Meadows necklace!)
Status: Available for remakes
Materials: Rose Cabochons, Flower Links, Emerald Chinese Crystal Teardrops

As always, I can be reached at daintylittletrinkets@gmail.com.

Wishing all my readers a happy October ahead. :)
