Nightingale - Customised

Here's another short post, because real life is kinda busy. 

This post is kind of a continuation of yesterday's post - the 2nd item that I customised for Jeanette. Jeanette has a great love for Swarovski hearts, and thus asked for this Nightingale bracelet to be spiced up a little with not one, but two Swarovski hearts. Resistance to the sparkle and charm of Swarovski hearts is futile!

 The previously monochromatic bracelet has been jazzed up a little with a little tinge of rose pink in front, almost as if carried by the little swallow, and a rich red Swarovski heart at the other end.

 Swarovski hearts in other hues are available, if your preference is for other shades.

Ariella - Customised

Hi friends.

It's the weekend, it's a lovely day outside - cherish the ones you're with and carpe diem, ok? <3

This'll be a short one because there are a couple of things happening in real life that need attending to.

A while back, I was contacted by Jeanette who is a person after my own heart when it comes to accessories - she loves dainty, simple stuff - right up my alley! She wanted to customise this Arielle necklace, but wanted it to be even simpler. So I removed the lace and changed the crystals to tiny pearls, and here's the end result - Ariella:

 An amethyst blend Swarovski heart pendant, with tiny ivory, rosaline and purple faux pearls on the chain.

 A dainty necklace suitable for everyday wear, when you want to accessorize, but want to do it in an understated manner.

A clearer depiction of the necklace, where the tiny pearls fall exactly at the clavicle.

Alas, April has come and gone. 

How the months fly by and how time passes in the blink of an eye.

As I am writing this post, my heart is a little heavy - today was a dear colleague and friend's last day at work. As the mandarin saying goes -  天下无不散之宴席 - all good things must come to an end. So this is a tiny tribute to one of the sweetest people I have had the privilege and blessing to meet, who is like the little sister I never had - Shyuan.

Very few people have the distinction of being so genuinely nice, kind-hearted and accepting of others, and Shyuan is one of the special few. They are the kind who inspire you to be a better person and make you think that yes, there is some good in this world. :) So thank you, girl, for being such a wonderful human being and friend. ♥

Disney Princesses - Conclusion

And that, my friends, is the end of the Disney Princesses collection.

I've enjoyed this mini-ride - hope you've enjoyed this little tribute to the animated heroines too. :)

Anna | Disney Princesses Collection: Part 5

Happy Sunday y'all.

Hope it's been a good one for you. 

This is the last post of the Disney Princesses collection - and the sister bracelet to the one posted yesterday (Elsa). Characters from Frozen have been all the rage recently, and rightfully so! Frozen is a Disney cartoon for all ages - with light humour, rich characters and a heartwarming story about love - love, for once, that is not about finding that prince charming, but sacrificial love for each other. 

Anna, at the beginning of the story, is excited about the possibility of meeting "The One" and finding true love. At the end of the story, she exemplifies the meaning of true love - one that puts someone else's needs above your own, one that commands bravery and sacrifice.

Here is a bracelet that matches Elsa's, this time in shades of purple and burgundy instead of frosty blue.

Burgundy and clear chinese crystal doughnuts, embossed purple and glittering purple Czech Preciosa crystals, a round double-twisted ring to represent love for family, and with various snowflake motifs.

 Why burgundy and purple? Throughout the second half of the movie, Anna wears a burgundy cape. The burgundy and purple shades are also a tribute to her vibrant personality and endless optimism. :)

Elsa | Disney Princesses Collection: Part 4

Yay weekend!

Over the weekend I shall focus on the two latest princesses inducted into the Disney Princess lineup - Elsa and Anna. They are perhaps the very reason I decided to make this collection. :) 

Frozen is probably the first Disney cartoon to feature sisters as main characters (no, the ugly stepsisters in Cinderella don't count), and their easy friendship and love beyond all odds is beautiful to behold. Having never had a sister, I've always thought that sisters have the potential to have really close relationships, understanding each other the way no one can (I'm assuming they will have fights like no one can too, but it's all rooted in sisterly love, I'm sure). So the bracelets inspired by Elsa and Anna are matching! 

Today's post is inspired by Elsa - long-time princess and now reigning queen of Arendelle:

Pocahontas | Disney Princesses Collection: Part 3

Earth day was just a couple of days ago, so the latest princess to be featured in the Disney Princess collection comes at an opportune time!

Pocahontas, who is the best advocate for caring for our environment, loving animals and being one with nature, also has the distinction of being one of the first non-white princesses in the Disney franchise. Yay for representation of different races! Given Pocahontas's love for nature, this bracelet is naturally nature-themed. :)

Oh, Ariel. Who doesn't relate to that keen thirst for adventure, that yearning for something extraordinary, that love for daydreaming? I watched The Little Mermaid in my formative years, and it has held a soft spot in my heart ever since. The song quoted above - Part of Your World - is one of my all-time favourites, so much so that I had the whole thing memorised!

How could I make a Disney Princesses collection without including the princess of the sea, yeah? Here's a bracelet inspired by Ariel:

 A bracelet in various shades inspired by the Caribbean sea, an ocean wave link, a seashell charm, a Sing charm in tribute to Ariel's mellifluous voice, and a dancer charm to represent Ariel's yearning to be on land - to walk and dance.

Mulan | Disney Princesses Collection: Part 1

First things first, a blessed Easter to all who celebrate. ✝

And lo, here we begin the first part of the Disney Princesses collection! I thought we should start off strong, with a strong leading lady and awesome role model - 花木蘭 - Mulan!

I like Mulan for many reasons, for her defying of conventional norms, her respect and love for her parents, and her boundless courage in the face of insurmountable odds. She's definitely one of the coolest Disney "princesses" around. When I started making this collection, I thought red would be a colour that would suit Mulan - strong and bold - two qualities that she possesses in large quantities.

 A rich red chinese crystal doughnut encased within a round double-twisted ring (representing the core value that Mulan embodies - love for family), a red rose on a flower filigree (in tribute to Mulan's surname, which means flower in mandarin), the courage she possesses, followed by wine red and cherry red Czech Preciosa crystals.

 At the other end of the bracelet is an arrow link and a princess charm. The princess charm can be exchanged with a "made with love" charm, as seen here.
